Castlecomer Enterprise Centre

Community Based Growth

Advocating creativity and entrepreneurship since 1994

Castlecomer Enterprise Group Ltd is a non-profit, community organisation established in 1994 when it acquired a lease on the old Vocational School in Castlecomer, thus the Enterprise Centre was created, a hub for both new and established businesses to flourish. A committee, that was appointed to oversee the running of the Enterprise Centre, raised funds to eventually purchase the building, resulting in sole ownership by the Castlecomer Enterprise Group Ltd on behalf of the community of Castlecomer. The property is situated on the Kilkenny Road opposite the fire station, offering easy access to the community.

This main property stands on just more than 1 hectare and covers an area of some 630 square meters, there are a number of start up businesses located in the property as well as a dedicated stand-alone unit which is a training centre for SOS Kilkenny.
The centre has experienced many highs and lows in its 20 year history, from official visits by President Mary Robinson and Mary MacAlesse to suffering severe damage as a result of burst water pipes during the severe winter of a couple of years ago. The Enterprise Group under the steward ship of current chairperson Gerard Ferris has however faced these successes and challenges with a single purpose of promoting employment opportunities and business startups into what is the largest town in North Kilkenny.
